Scouts Commemorate National Waste Awareness Day
Cileungsi, 11th of February 2026 — Every scout student in Regina Caeli
Senior High School commemorated National Waste Awareness Day, as did every
other scout member across the country. This commemoration was held after
school, from 15.15 PM until 16.20 PM. In this commemoration, the scouts clean
up different areas of the school to make sure no waste has been left behind.
National Waste
Awareness Day aims to increase public awareness about the importance of proper
waste management and environmental protection. It is hoped that this commemoration
will encourage people to reduce, reuse, and recycle waste, as well as to take
greater responsibility in maintaining cleanliness and creating a healthier
environment for the future.
At the
beginning of the event, Kak Nurdin informed us that each area of Indonesia will
be graded based on the content produced by each area. Abdul and Rayyan from
grade 11 Pascal were tasked to document the whole commemoration from start to
finish. Aside from filming general videos of students cleaning, several
students were also interviewed individually to get extra opinions and comments.
Each area of
the school was cleaned by the scouts in the form of groups. A group of girls
cleaned the hallways from Grade 10 Galileo Galilei until the admin room, a
group of boys cleaned the parking area, a group of girls cleaned the Senior
High School field, and the rest of the groups cleaned areas outside of the
Senior High School area. In total, there were 6 groups cleaning different areas
of the school. At the cleaning session, around 15 trash cans of waste were
successfully collected by our scouts, an astonishing effort to get rid of all
the waste in this school.
At the end of the commemoration, our spirits were lifted as we increased our awareness of waste not only in our school, but also around us in daily life. This commemoration has taught us that our environment is important, and all of our actions will have consequences, small or big. Finally, this event ended with one final quote before the closing prayer. “Scouts, Happy National Waste Awareness Day. Love of nature and compassion for fellow humans.”
